What the service is

We request each website you add once every 60 seconds, alternating between two independent locations, and email you when one stops answering. A failure is confirmed from the other location and a retry before we call it an outage.

You can also ask us to check that a page contains a phrase, or never contains one. We read the page exactly as your server sends it, before any JavaScript runs, so a phrase added by JavaScript is not something we can see. A phrase that is missing is confirmed the same way an outage is: from both locations and a retry.

What we do not promise

We do not guarantee that we will detect every outage, or that an email will arrive. Networks fail, mail is delayed, and our own service can stop. When we do not know something we say so rather than guessing, and a period we did not observe is shown as a gap rather than assumed to be fine.

Bionic Uptime is a notification service. It does not fix anything, and it is not a substitute for backups, support cover or an agreement with your host. We are not liable for losses arising from an outage we missed, reported late, or reported wrongly. If that is not an acceptable risk for a website you run, you need more than a $12 monitor.

Your account

One person per account. Only add websites you own or look after on somebody's behalf; we request the address like any visitor, but it is for you to have the right to ask. Do not use the service to hammer somebody else's website.

Money

Up to 3 websites are free, with every feature, with no time limit and no card. Twenty websites is $12 a month, charged monthly in advance through Stripe, in US dollars before any applicable taxes. Cancel whenever you like from your account and it stops at the end of the period you have paid for; we do not pro-rate a partial month. Your card statement will say BIONICS LLC.

If a payment fails we keep monitoring for a grace period and tell you. If it still fails, the account returns to Free and keeps 3 websites; nothing is deleted at that point, and the websites that stopped are named in the email.

Stopping

You can delete your account at any time from the account page, and it takes effect immediately. We can close an account that is being used to attack somebody or that is not paying, and we will say why.

Changes

If we change these terms we will email you before the change applies to you, not after. Price changes will never apply to a period you have already paid for.
